$40 for a case of 72.

So, I emailed the guy and asked if he already had them boxed up in specific groups or if I would be able to pick and choose from the entire lot.

He replied saying that if I want to choose, it will be $60.

Needless to say, that's an asshole move and I'm surprised anyone would be so blunt about it. But at the same time, it's still less than a buck each, so I mean..... I was originally planning on haggling down to $35, but at this point I'm just going to ask to pay the original 40. If he still insists that there's a $20 "know-what-you're-getting" fee, what should I do? It's still a fairly good deal and he might have great stuff, but I don't want to give in to that.

Honestly..
I don't know what to choose if i have to buy 72 hot wheels, but..

I would pay 60 bucks for that. Or talk him down to 50.

but, if's that tomica, i wouldn't talk him down at all.

I mean, there is a difference between showing up and taking a box, and sitting there picking out 72 different cars. I imagine he has all those boxes ready to go and doesn't want to wait for you to pick them out. I guess it's up to you. As you say, $60 is still less than a buck a piece. If it were me, I'd just walk away with a random box for $35 or $40.

I wouldn't be too picky. Really, I'd just be trying to avoid duplicates and Matchboxes (unless they're awesome). So yeah it would take a bit more time, but not $20 worth of time.
